And that accommodations cannot be crazy enough is evident from the list of the 10 strangest "sleeping objects" in the Netherlands announced by Vipio in the press release below. The list consists of a number of objects or buildings that have been converted into strange places to spend the night.
According to Mark Borgman, co-founder of Vipio, the number of 'strange' overnight stays in the Netherlands is increasing rapidly. ''People are more than ever looking for an experience and an overnight stay in a boring hotel no longer fits that bill. Why sleep in an ordinary hotel when you can also book an overnight stay that you will never forget''. According to Borgman, owners of overnight accommodations are cleverly playing into this. 'It's great to see how imaginative and creative landlords are and convert everything into a unique place to sleep'".
Nights to remember
Vipio hosts a selection with hundreds of special overnight stays in the Netherlands and Belgium. Launched in 2020, the platform is off to a lightning start. Borgman thinks the popularity of special overnight stays is partly due to the corona outbreak. ''When people suddenly couldn't go abroad for (short) holidays they started looking for a nice alternative in the Netherlands. Special and unique accommodations were booked up very quickly and landlords quickly added new special accommodations'.
