A unique water stay on a Lifeboat

This unique lifeboat really carries a special story. Once upon a time, this boat was attached to a ship, the Polarstern, based in Bremerhaven - Germany. The Polarstern still sails and is used every year for research near the Arctic Circle. One of the important studies that the scientists do is to measure the level of the melting ice. This lifeboat had the important task of rescuing the crew in case of emergency. Fortunately, it never came to that. In addition, the lifeboat was used by the researchers to get closer to the research area, so that they could sail between the ice floes.

The boat finally arrived at its final destination: the marina of idyllic Monnickendam. Because the owners find the story behind the boat so special, they decided to transform the boat into something unique. And this is the result! The guests are usually very surprised and recommend the stay to others.

If you are looking for a cozy and intimate stay, this is 'the place to be'! The lifeboat has a lovely double bed, a sitting area with folding table, free WIFI and a flat screen TV with many national and international channels. There is also a fridge on board, a choice of drinks and snacks, board games, a coffee machine and kettle. Coffee and tea are free to use. The lifeboat is also equipped with a heater so you can book the lifeboat even on the colder days. There is no shower or toilet on board, but less than a minute's walk away in the marina there is a great shower and toilet facility with several toilets and (free) hot showers. And these are very neat and clean!

The marina of Monnickendam is a quiet place that looks more like a campsite than a marina. From the marina you can walk to the center of Monnickendam where you can enjoy a drink on a terrace or food at a nice restaurant. Monnickendam is located directly on the Markermeer and in an area with lots to do. Within about 10 minutes, you are in Volendam and within about 20 minutes, in the center of Amsterdam. In the vicinity there is also plenty to do for water sports enthusiasts.
