This bunker used to serve as a hiding place for soldiers. A few years ago, it was made habitable, so real enthusiasts can experience life in a bunker. The cottage is fairly basic, so please bring your own towels, bedding, and sleeping bags. Mattresses are available. Cooking utensils, plates, and glasses are provided as well. There is no heating. A small electric 2-burner stove, a mini fridge, and a folding table will make your stay here a unique experience! You can also use the central toilet block on the site. There is also a room with a shower and sink especially for the bunker residents and campers.

The bunker is part of the New Dutch Waterline, a line of defense that was intended to protect Holland from enemy troops. In the event of a threat of war, soldiers could flood wide strips of land from Muiden to the Biesbosch, making Holland inaccessible. This line contains more than 60 fortifications. This fort was built in 1845. It is state-owned and has been completely renovated under the direction of St. Wandel en FietsForten (Walking and Bicycle Forts) and made usable again for the next 50 years. This restoration took 6 years.

The fort also has a restaurant where you can go for lunch or dinner. Of course, it is also possible to enjoy a cool drink here in sunny weather.
