About this accommodation
This authentic baggage car once transported suitcases, mailbags, and travel goods to their destinations. Today, it’s a unique spot for a special overnight stay for up to 4 people. This historical baggage car has left its active rail days behind, but the atmosphere of the past is still palpable amid the historical details of this one-of-a-kind car. The car is located at a former train station in the northern part of the province of Friesland. In addition to this special overnight stay, there is another train at the station that houses a unique pancake restaurant. The station’s waiting room has been converted into a small railroad shop.
The Accommodation
The railcar has been carefully restored and combines historical charm with modern comfort. You’ll have two comfortable double beds (as bunk beds), a cozy seating area, coffee and tea-making facilities, and a private shower and toilet. Towels are provided in the railcar, and there is plenty of toilet paper available.
Surroundings
In addition to offering a unique sleeping experience, this accommodation is ideally located for anyone wanting to spend a day on the Wadden Sea island of Ameland. From here, it’s just a 10-minute drive to the ferry to Ameland. Prefer to explore the mainland of Friesland? The charming city of Leeuwarden—which features many shops, restaurants, and museums—is just over 15 kilometers from this accommodation.

The four of us spent a few relaxing nights in the baggage car. The place was built with lots of great ideas, care, and love, and has a truly beautiful and unique atmosphere. Everything was nicely prepared. The host suggests some wonderful destinations for day trips.
