Special army unit for 2 people

This former army unit has been completely transformed into a cosy chalet for 2 people. This unit was formerly used for military training purposes, but now you can have a romantic night in it. This accommodation is located on a cosy and unique eco-camping site a stone's throw from the city of Groningen.

The accommodation
Discover this former German army unit that was once used for military training. The unit has now been lovingly transformed into a cosy double chalet. It offers surprising comfort with a double bed, a small table and benches for both. The interior is decorated with old Dutch designs in a modern twist, including a handmade table with a mosaic of old crockery. Enjoy the tranquillity at the edge of the meadow, close to the camp kitchen and the toilet building within walking distance. No worries about the cold, as the well-insulated unit has an electric heater and the bed has an electric blanket. Outside is a fireplace where you can warm up. A perfect place to enjoy comfort and charm in the midst of nature.

The eco-camping
The army unit is on a cosy eco-camping site in the municipality of Groningen. It is a real community campsite with a shared kitchen and a central campfire. At the campsite there is a lovely, hot tub that you can book in for a 3-hour session. The location is beautiful, among the trees with the whistling birds all around you. The campsite is located on the outskirts of the city of Groningen. By bike you can be in the centre of Groningen within half an hour.

Cooking
The camping kitchen aka 'The Saloon' is pretty much the heart of the campsite. Breakfast is served here and in the evening dinner. During the day people play games here, drink a cup of tea or read a book. We also light the cosy (and famous) campfire here in the evening. Would you like to cook yourself? Of course you can. In addition to two refrigerators and two sinks, there is a stove, kettle and coffee maker. There are also plates, cups, glasses, cutlery and a dishwasher. And there are toilets nearby. Note: If you want to cook for yourself, don't forget to bring all the ingredients before you arrive here (there is no supermarket nearby).

Breakfast
Every morning between 08.00 and 11.00 a multicoloured breakfast is served including home-made sourdough bread, kaiser rolls, croissants, boiled eggs, milk and orange juice and a selection of sweet toppings (including local jams, sprinkles, honey) and various cheeses. By default, breakfast does not include meat. Breakfast can be booked as an optional extra.

The surroundings
This eco-camping is located in the town of Engelbert, near the city of Groningen. Groningen is a vibrant city in the north of the Netherlands. With its historical charm, vibrant culture and friendly atmosphere, it attracts residents and visitors alike. The city features its beautiful canals, historical buildings and atmospheric squares. The Martinitoren, an iconic landmark, rises proudly above the city and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area. The cosy cafes, boutiques and art galleries add to the vibrancy of the city.
