About this accommodation
This romantic log cabin is tucked away in a large, tree-rich city garden in Enschede. The accommodation has a large covered veranda, surrounded by green bushes, here you can relax in summer and winter. Within 10 minutes cycling you are in the city and if you cycle in the other direction, you are within 10 minutes in beautiful countryside. In front of the door you can park for free. There is a key safe at the gate - from 2 p.m. you can arrive whenever you want.
The log cabin
The owners of the bed and breakfast are artists and built this log cabin with authentic vintage building materials. The furnishings and household items are also mostly vintage. The log cabin is, on the one hand, more primitive than you are used to, on the other hand with all the more atmosphere and loving details. You will find just about everything you need for a cosy get-together or alone time, including candles, incense and games. You are out and about. Inside there is a double box bed (queen size), electricity, private WIFI and a kitchenette with cold running water, a kettle, mini-fridge, gas stove, hair dryer, everything for cooking (including spices, oil, coffee and tea) and vintage crockery and cutlery.
Bathroom
In the garden there is a second accommodation (a yurt), with up to 2 guests. With them you share the guest bathroom. This is 20 meters from the log cabin and has a double bathtub, shower stall, toilet, sink and the washing machine (which the owners also use). It has its own entrance from the garden. In the cabin there are bathrobes, slippers and an umbrella for any night walks. Even when the weather is not so good you can sit outside, on the covered porch with fireplace, surrounded by evergreen bushes for optimal privacy. Here is a nice couch with pillows and wool blankets, oil lamps, candles and a chest with games, drawing materials, a water bowl for the dog, etc.
Winter and summer booking
In summer the cabin stays cool because it is under the trees, if necessary there is a small air conditioner. Also the terrace is sheltered and stays relatively cool in hot weather. In winter: the log cabin is heated with a wood stove. This is made up when you arrive and heats up quickly. Firewood is included, also briquettes (they glow all night). The cabin is very well insulated so the heat lasts a long time. With our super thick, feather down comforters, you won't get cold on winter nights either.
The garden
The cabin is located in a large, tree-lined garden with high fences that is not overlooked from the street. There is much to see, including pheasants, a pond, chickens running loose. Evergreen shrubs provide vistas and privacy.
Optional extras available at the bed and breakfast:
- Bike rental: Rent regular bikes for €7.50 per person per day.
- Breakfast: Enjoy a deluxe breakfast for €8.50 per person.
Pets:
In the garden sometimes chickens run loose and there are pheasants in a run. Dogs are welcome, but must be leashed in the garden. If your dog is afraid of chickens, please let us know so we can keep them inside.
Noise and environment:
The street is quiet and the garden makes you feel like you are in a forest, but we are in a residential area. Many guests experience it as very quiet, but sometimes there is some noise, such as the pheasant rooster making its call, a passing car or a walker with a dog. Across the street is a 10-meter-deep railroad ditch through which the steam train to Gronau passes. This sounds like a gust of wind and we haven't heard it in a long time, but you might notice it.
Enschede:
The city of Enschede offers several fun sights and activities. For example, tour the Grolsch or Stanislaus beer brewery, visit Het Rijksmuseum Twente, take a city walk or go shopping in the lively city center. Also the outlying area around Enschede, is worth a visit. If requested, I will send a link to my travel guide, with tips for shopping, restaurants, natural areas and more.
