This bridge keeper's house is a typical design of the famous Amsterdam style and was designed by Pieter Lodewijk Kramer. The building immediately stands out because of its unusual roof shape. The undulating roof with protruding eaves is reminiscent of a beret. The overhang protected the bridge keeper from the sun. The building is also characterized by the rounded corners and the unusual design of the wrought-iron railing. The fact that the windows extend all the way around the side walls gave the bridge keeper a good view.

The accommodation is equipped with all the facilities you will find in a hotel. You sleep on a spacious double bed and have access to a bathroom with a shower and toilet. You can also use a mini-fridge, coffee and tea facilities, and free Wi-Fi. Bed linen, towels, and final cleaning are included. There is both air conditioning and heating. Therefore, the accommodation is bookable all year round.

Surroundings
Although it's tempting to sit on the window sill of the bridge operator's house all day, many of Amsterdam's famous sights are within walking distance. Cross the bridge for a stroll along Haarlemmerdijk - one of Amsterdam's most popular shopping streets - or head in the opposite direction to the leafy Westerpark, where you might even come across one of the many festivals held there. Cross the picturesque canals of the Jordaan to arrive at the Nine Streets and the Anne Frank House.
