Sleep in beautiful church

Enjoy the Groningen countryside with a former church as your base, converted into a luxurious holiday accommodation. Perfect for those who love space and tranquillity. On the Hogeland in the province of Groningen, you can spend your holiday in a charming former hall church. The white church was built in 1886. Church services were held here until 2009, after which it was used for ten years as a care church. In 2020, it was converted into a holiday home for two people.

The accommodation is fully equipped with modern comforts. There is a cosy seating area made of reclaimed wood. The spacious kitchen is fully fitted and includes a dishwasher, oven, microwave, kettle and filter coffee machine. Coffee, sugar, milk powder, salt, oil, washing-up liquid and dishwasher tablets are provided, as well as plenty of kitchen and tea towels. The large bed (1.80 x 2.10 m) is placed on a small raised platform in the church and is already made up with two duvets. The comfort of a box spring bed with high-quality bedding enhances the holiday feeling. The former church is an ideal place to relax. The bathroom features a rain and hand shower, an extra toilet and underfloor heating. Towels and washcloths are provided here as well. In the utility room, you can use the washing machine and ironing board. Books, magazines, games and information about the surrounding area are also available.

Next to the church is a spacious garden offering plenty of privacy. The views over the fields and the wide skies are a real delight. Sleeping in a church is a truly unique experience.

The owners live in the former caretaker’s house next to the church and are available during your stay for any questions.

Surroundings
The church is located in a small, quiet village in the province of Groningen, on the edge of the open Groningen landscape. The area is known for its wide views, dikes and characteristic countryside. You can enjoy walking and cycling along fields, ancient mounds and old dikes. Birdwatchers will also enjoy the nearby nature reserves along the Wadden Sea coast. The city of Groningen is easily accessible (approx. 25 kilometres), offering museums, shops, restaurants and a vibrant cultural scene. This makes it easy to combine peace and nature with city life
