Tent cabin with shower stall near Deventer

In Salland, Overijssel, just outside Deventer, there’s a dairy farm where you can spend the night in a comfortable tent cabin. This glamping tent sleeps 5 people and is situated on the edge of the forest, with an unobstructed view from the front over the pastures where the cows graze. With a little luck, you might see roe deer walking along the forest edge early in the morning from the comfort of your bed. The farmer and his wife are happy to give you a glimpse into daily farm life, where the 60 dairy cows choose for themselves when to go to the milking robot or head out to pasture. Dogs are welcome here, provided they are kept on a leash while on the farm grounds.

The Accommodation
The tent cottage is equipped for 5 people and offers a comfortable base in the heart of nature. Inside the tent, you’ll find a spacious dining table and a cozy sitting area. You’ll cook on the wood-burning stove, which you can use in the morning to boil fresh eggs, for example. There is cold running tap water and a spacious cooler that keeps your items cold with ice packs. You can sleep in the double bed, the room with the sturdy bunk bed, or in the cozy box bed. Inside the tent is a real flush toilet, and right next to the tent is a private shower stall with a hot shower. Without electricity, you’ll end the day in a cozy atmosphere by the soft light of candles and oil lamps.

The Farm
In the farm shop on the grounds, you can find local products and ingredients, such as local beer, regional honey, jam, and fresh milk. You can order fresh bread daily or choose to book a lavish breakfast basket for the whole family. The pizza oven is lit regularly so everyone can bake fresh pizzas together. For those traveling by electric car, there is a charging station on the property (with its own adapter).

Kids won’t be bored for a moment here. They can go into the barn to see how the milking robot works, help bottle-feed the newborn calves, and brush the ponies in the pasture. There’s a petting barn with rabbits and guinea pigs, an animal pasture with pigs and cows, and around the tents they can build huts, swing on the giant swing, catch fish in the ditch, play on the big sand pile, or race through the woods on a go-kart.

The Surroundings
From the farmyard, you can walk or run straight into the adjacent forest, or hop on a mountain bike for a ride through Salland. The farm is centrally located between De Hoge Veluwe National Park and the Sallandse Heuvelrug, with hiking and biking trails along the floodplains of the IJssel River. In the spring, you can get fresh asparagus directly from local growers. For a day trip, simply take the ferry across the IJssel River to the historical center of Deventer to enjoy a drink on a terrace or visit a museum.
