At the mouth of the Westerschelde, one of the busiest shipping lanes in Europe, lies this old tower. Since 1974, this monument has housed a restaurant and since 2016, you can spend the night in the spire of the tower in a luxury suite.

The tower was built in 1491 and was then part of the town wall. In 1610, the building was then refurbished to a new function as a city prison, which was feared by many prisoners. Recently, it has become possible to spend the night in the fantastically refurbished tower. Of course, the room is equipped with all modern conveniences. After a day out in the fresh air, you can take a nice bath and then sleep in the large two-person queen-size bed.

From your bed you have a fantastic view over the Westerschelde and the boulevard through the four round windows. Sea-going vessels sail thoigh the water gate just a stone's throw away. You can also go outside where you can walk on the old "Kantelen" all around the spire and have a wonderful view. In clear weather you can even see the skyline of Knokke, the Lange Jan in Middelburg and the ports of Vlissingen and Terneuzen.
