At the mouth of the Westerschelde, one of the busiest shipping lanes in Europe, lies this old tower. Since 1974, this monument has housed a restaurant and since 2016, you can spend the night in the spire of the tower in a luxury suite.
The tower was built in 1491 and was then part of the town wall. In 1610, the building was then refurbished to a new function as a city prison, which was feared by many prisoners.
