Het naastgelegen dorp Dwingeloo heeft de allermooiste brink van Drenthe, een prachtige siepelvormige toren en een lommerijk centrum met fraaie boerderijen. In Dwingeloo vind je een diversiteit aan restaurants en kun je verscheidene gezellige terrasjes bezoeken. Op negen kilometer afstand van vind je de verkoelende recreatieplas: Het Blauwe Meer.
