Unique A-frame cottage in nature

A stunning, romantic house, in the middle of Lonjsko Polje nature park, this really is the ultimate destination for anyone looking for complete relaxation and privacy, in the heart of nature.

The house sleeps 4 people and has been thoughtfully decorated throughout. Although the exterior is traditional, the interiors are light yet cosy and full of natural textures – parquet floors, wooden beams, brick stoves and terracotta tiles. On the ground floor, there is a fully equipped kitchen, with an induction hob, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and kettle. Large French windows lead from the kitchen onto a small covered terrace into the large garden. Next to the kitchen is a dining table and chairs as well as a cosy sitting area with a sofa and coffee table.

The first floor is reached by an external staircase and includes a charming sitting room with a corner sofa, armchairs, flatscreen TV and wood-burning stove. The room is light and airy thanks to the French windows, which lead out onto a covered balcony, with a table and chairs, where guests can relax and look out over the secluded gardens.

Tucked away at the back of the living room there is a double bed with a separate bathroom. A ladder leads up to the second bedroom, which is on a mezzanine above.

The cottage has a separate summer house, complete with a jacuzzi, which is the perfect place for relaxing in peace or enjoying a long, lazy meal with friends, cooked on the large brick grill and eaten at the rustic wooden table. If this is too much, then there is a hammock nearby.

Bedroom 1: The airy, first floor living room has a traditional wooden, double bed with a chest of drawers.
Bedroom 2: The second bedroom, on the mezzanine, tucked under the roof, has double bed.

Location
In a small hamlet, on the edge of a pristine lake in the middle of a nature park, this property is a wonderful retreat. The park is famous for its birdlife and rivers. Visitors can go cycling, hiking, fishing, canoeing and birdwatching, all right on their doorstep.

The capital city, Zagreb (1 hour, 30 mins away), is well worth a visit. In addition to all the practical amenities, such as supermarkets and banks, it has many museums; a beautiful cathedral; a daily market (opens 6.30 am) selling the freshest local fruit and vegetables, ideal for self-catering and even a flea market (Sundays) in Britanski trg.

There are farms nearby where visitors can buy local, organic produce to cook at home. Franjo Tudman International Airport in Zagreb, which is a 1-hour 15-minute drive away.
